Navel piercing

Navel piercing is a popular piercing that, with the right kind of jewelry, emphasizes your body. Navel piercing jewelry looks great in the summer when you can wear short shirts and the sun is shining against your jewelry. There are several options for navel jewelry, from simple jewelry to very impressive jewelry. When choosing a jewelry, it is important to take into account which options are really good quality and realistic. The belly bar must be durable, because it is in an area where it might get rubbed by, for example, the belt of the pants. At LuxJewelle, we have chosen durable and stylish options that are safe for you to use. The price of a navel jewelry is usually 30 euros and up. Cheap belly bars are usually of low quality cheap production, which do not last longer and in many cases cause unpleasant complications for the wearer. The age limit for a necklace is often 16 years or 14 years with the guardian’s permission.

Is my navel piercing migrating?

A navel piercing is a piercing that takes a little bit time to settle. This means that the navel may often protrude a millimeter or two as it heals. You can avoid navel jewelry migrating by following the care instructions and using high-quality materials. If the navel piercing migratesa lot, the reason is often a bad material (surgical steel, plastic or acrylic) or insufficient care instructions.

How is a belly piercing made? Does the procedure hurt?

Belly piercing is made to highlight your best features. Belly piercing is always taken by a professional piercer who knows how to place the jewelry in the appropriate place and gives you comprehensive care instructions. When you’re looking for a suitable piercer, research his previous piercings and ask if he uses high-quality jewelry (implant-grade titanium or nickel-free gold). The pain from navel piercing is very individual for people. However, navel jewelry is not one of the most painful piercings.

Hiding scars with navel piercing

A navel jewelry can also cover up scars and distract from them. However, if you have an old scar on your navel from a former navel piercing, it can often be re-pierced, leaving the old scar hidden.

Suitable navel jewelry and sizing

When you choose a belly bar that suits you, it is important to take into account that its base part is long enough (usually 10-13mm). The belly button must not press/press against the skin. Also, the belly button must not be tightened anywhere while you are moving. If the navel bar presses against the skin and feels tight, it should be changed for a longer one so that healing can continue. If the navel turns red or the skin around the navel dries more than usual, you should contact your piercer and check that the material is implant-grade titanium or nickel-free gold. The irritation symptoms of navel piercing can also be caused by insufficient care instructions.

Healing time of a navel piercing

The belly button piercing heals in 3-6 months if you have comprehensive and good care instructions that you have followed and you have the best materials. If your navel shows symptoms after 6 months, you should contact your piercer.

Navel piercing aftercare

After piercing your navel, we recommend that you wear casual clothes. With the navel jewelry, you should prefer low-waisted pants as clothes, so that they do not press against the piercing. Avoid lacy clothing and other materials that could potentially catch on the jewelry with the navel jewelry. Rinse the navel piercing with water or a pharmacy saline solution at least once a day (max 2 times a day) to remove blood and tissue fluid from around the ring. Do not use disinfectants and conditioning oils when cleaning the belly piercing, they are too much and cause complications in the worst case.

When can I swim with a navel piercing? When can I have a sauna with a navel piercing?

We recommend that you avoid saunas and swimming for at least the first month. Swimming pools, spas and the like are the worst bacteria nests you can expose your newly pierced piercing to. However, if you decide to swim or sauna with your navel within the first month, rinse the navel with plenty of water or saline afterwards. If your navel begins to show symptoms, contact your piercer first.

Choose a suitable size non-threaded base part

Tips for choosing the right labret post

3mm and 4mm options are available for the width of the back part of the post. Here are some things to consider when choosing the right size:

  • For piercings that are healing, we recommend a 4mm back part.
  • Piercings inside the mouth, e.g. a lip jewelry, also require a 4mm back part, so that the back part does not sink into the soft tissue inside the mouth.
  • If you choose a large, more decorative (e.g. arch-shaped) tip part, the Labret heel part 4mm width also gives your jewelry additional support.
  • The side of the nose with a 3mm piercing does not collect body fluids as much and does not take up space in the nostril. It is also not visible from there on the smaller back and does not feel uncomfortable to use.
  • In the tragus piercing, the 3mm back part makes it easier to use earphones and doesn’t collect so much earwax.

Tips for choosing length and thickness

Please note that the size suggestions are indicative recommendations and you can get confirmation of the perfect size for you from the piercing shop.

For easier jewelry installation

Selection of insertion pin size

Choose your insertion pin according to the size of the jewelry you ordered. If your jewelry is 1.2mm in size, also choose 1.2mm as the thickness of the insertion pin. The threadless insertion pin is suitable for the installation of jewelry without threads. You can also carefully bend the insertion pin slightly at an angle, so you can get it better for narrow ear piercings, such as forward helix and tragus piercings. Keep the insertion pin for your other jewelry as well, because you can use it on all your jewelry with the same thickness and fastening mechanisms.

The insertion pin can also be used as a stretcher!

The insertion pin is also very suitable for stretching. The insertion pin is designed so that one end is very thin, so that you can easily find your piercing hole, and the other end of the insertion pin is the size of the desired thickness. For example, if your septum jewelry is currently 1.2 mm thick, you can order a 1.6 mm thick insertion pin and a 1.6 mm thick jewelry that you can easily put in place with the insertion pin. This way you can safely reach the desired size little by little.
