The benefit of internally threaded jewelry is that, when changing, piercing jewelry does not cause unnecessary damage or irritation to the tissue due to the threads (the thread is on the inside of the jewelry, not on the outside). The benefit of internally threaded jewelry is also that the balls stay taut much better and do not loosen as easily as in externally threaded jewelry.
